Why isn't the Explorer 1 as desirable as the Submariner, Daytona, or GMT Master II?
I love the explorer and wear a 36mm as my daily and I think the 40mm is a great addition for people with bigger wrists. That said, I was really hoping for a polar face for the 36mm and would have preferred that over this.
The new 40mm Explorer is definitely on my radar from the new releases (that and the 42mm Ti Yachtmaster). I've been looking at 39mm Mk 2 Explorers for a while but haven't pulled the trigger. I thought I'd make a quick comparison shot to see the differences (new on the left, old on the right).

It just seemed to feel right on my wrist. I know the 36 is the historical choice and is the natural form factor however and I don’t take that lightly.
The Explorer 40 is powered by calibre 3230 which is also found in many time-only Rolex is strangely losing 15 seconds a day which could be due to breaking in but is never an issue for Tudor watches.
